On election night, Rep. Robert Garcia posted two words: “Lawyer up.” Jeffries assigned Garcia (Oversight) and Rep. Jamie Raskin (Judiciary) months ago to lead the oversight effort, AP reported via PBS NewsHour on Nov. 5. Garcia outlined five priorities for Oversight, including Trump family business dealings, the Epstein investigation and ICE operations.

In the Senate, Richard Blumenthal, expected to chair the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, told AP on Nov. 4: “The tentacles of corruption reach deep in this administration, and they have added costs to everyday Americans.” Ron Wyden, in line to chair Senate Finance, named Epstein-linked banks and “pharmaceutical companies that have profited from their ties to the Trump administration” as targets. He named no companies.

The gavels change hands in a House where, per Politico, Democrats had netted 252 seats with races still uncalled. The White House says it has done nothing wrong and calls the plans “sham investigations.” The open question is which name gets the first subpoena.
