Rep. Robert Garcia, the Democrat expected to chair House Oversight, says half of the Epstein files are still hidden from the public. “Half of the Epstein documents, of the files have not been released to the public,” he told Liz Landers of PBS NewsHour on Nov. 5. “There has not been a single, not one public hearing on the Epstein investigation in the Congress.”

Garcia says the new majority will not wait politely. If Attorney General Todd Blanche stonewalls subpoenas, Democrats will use “not just criminal contempt, but civil contempt,” he said. He also said Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth “should resign.”

Reuters reported Nov. 5 that Democrats plan to investigate Trump deals after winning the House, and Forbes reported the same day that Epstein sits on the target list. The share of files still unreleased is Garcia's claim; BTP has not checked it against a Justice Department record. The first test comes when the new Congress convenes in January and the committee sends its first document requests.
