What this site does collect
- Your email, if and only if you submit the subscribe form. It is forwarded to Beehiiv to fulfill your subscription. Beehiiv's privacy policy applies.
- Standard server logs at the edge (Vercel) — IP and user agent — for abuse mitigation. Hosting-provider logging and retention are governed by the provider’s settings and policies.
- First-party measurement of page views, reading depth, link clicks, signup actions, and campaign labels. These events help us understand which reporting and signup paths people use. The event endpoint does not deliberately add your IP address or browser user agent to event records; hosting logs are separate. Browser events and the endpoint respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control.
- Reader preferences in browser storage and first-party cookies, so the site can recognize a completed signup or dismissed prompt. Reader-recognition cookies can last up to one year.
What this site does not collect
- No third-party analytics. No Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Segment, Plausible, etc.
- No tracking cookies. No fingerprinting. No session replay.
- No advertising pixels. Sponsorship inquiries and newsletter advertising are separate from advertising pixels on this website.
- No social media trackers. The share buttons open new tabs to the social platforms — they do not load any tracker on this page.
- No tip-form server. The tip line is a `mailto:` link that opens your email client; the form data never touches our servers.
YouTube embeds
The /tv and individual /press pages embed YouTube videos using the youtube-nocookie.com domain. YouTube does not set tracking cookies until you start playback.
