On Oct 19, the Justice Department announced charges against 28 foreign nationals in California for election crimes. Seven days later, on Oct 26, it announced charges involving 48 aliens.

BTP compared the two lists name for name. All 28 California defendants from Oct 19 appear again on Oct 26: 13 from the Central District of California, 6 from the Eastern District, 5 from the Northern District and 4 from the Southern District. Only 20 of the 48 were new. That makes 28 of 48, or 58.33 percent, a repeat.

Then on Nov 2, the day before the midterm, Attorney General Todd Blanche's department announced 63 more and called it "the largest surge of voter-fraud arrests since President Trump returned to office." Across the three releases, DOJ announced 139 defendants. The unique count is 111.

DOJ's running totals, 195 charged in the last nine weeks and 239 since the administration began, were not reconciled with the per-release lists. Whether those totals count the 28 Californians twice is not stated on DOJ's pages. All defendants are presumed innocent, as DOJ's releases say.
