What changed: First-Class Forever stamp, 78 cents to 82 cents. When: July 12, 2026. Who set it: The U.S. Postal Service proposed it April 9, and the Postal Regulatory Commission reviewed it under Docket R2026-1. Mailing services overall rose about 4.8%.

Also in effect now: a temporary price increase on Priority Mail, Ground Advantage and Parcel Select from Oct. 4, 2026 through Jan. 17, 2027. Retail packages up to 3 pounds going to nearby zones cost 50 cents more. USPS calls it a “temporary price adjustment.”

Pending: USPS asked regulators this summer to let it move its next stamp increase to January 2027. As of Oct. 19, BTP has found no January stamp price filing. This entry will be updated if one is filed.

A stamp that cost 78 cents in June costs 82 now. That is a 5% raise on mailing a bill, a check or a ballot.
